Firefighters rescued a boy, 4, who was clinging to the outside of a fourth-floor window of a residence in China's Shandong Province on Monday.

Firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving the call from the boy's grandfather.

In order to prevent him from falling, the rescuers quickly fastened a security rope around his chest, while residents from the building held out quilt below.

After firmly securing the boy, the rescuers used a hydraulic machine to widen the bars and lifted the boy to safety.

His grandfather said he was taking a nap when the accident happened, adding he was awoken by his cries and immediately called the emergency services.

Kevin Hart is in a grueling stage of recovery right now after doctors repaired THREE fractures to his spine ... suffered in his horrific Labor Day weekend car accident.

Sources with direct knowledge tell us Kevin's Sunday night surgery involved fusing the fractures ... 2 of them in the thoracic section of his spine, and 1 in the lumbar. Although the procedure was a success, Kevin is still going through hell. We're told he has to be heavily medicated because the pain is just that intense.

That being said, it could have been much worse. Lumbar fractures can often result in at least difficulties walking, and at worst ... partial paralysis of the arms or legs. Luckily for Kevin, we're told doctors expect him to make a full recovery, but it's gonna be a long road back.

Our sources say the group had spent the evening at Kevin and Eniko's Calabasas home. Kevin was clearly soaking up a rare day off Saturday when he posted a pic of himself jumping into his pool with the caption, "Being home makes me happy ... enjoy your weekend people."

Later that day he also posted a vid of himself behind the wheel of the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, peeling out on what looked like a local street.

... the eyewitness who called 911 from the accident scene says he saw a security guard pull Kevin from the driver's side window of the wrecked muscle car. CHP says first responders found Jared pinned in the driver's seat when they arrived.

He and his fiancee, Rebecca, were removed after firefighters sawed off the roof of the car. Jared's condition is still unclear, but we're told he suffered similar injuries to Kevin.

Seven passengers were taken to hospitals when a Hawaiian Airlines flight landed in Honolulu on Thursday morning with smoke in the cabin and cargo hold, officials said.

The passengers had "smoke-related symptoms," Hawaiian Airlines said in a statement.
The smoke buildup happened because oil was leaking "onto hot parts of the plane's engine and air conditioning pressurization system," according to a statement released by the airline, which blamed the leak on a failed seal.
Daniel K. Inouye International Airport Fire Chief Glenn Mitchell described the passengers' injuries as "minor respiratory" in nature. The seven injured were five adults and two children, airline Chief Operating Officer Jon Snook said.
The flight from Oakland, California, made its emergency landing around 11:30 a.m. HT. The other 177 passengers and the seven crew members were bused to the terminal.
The smoke began filling the cabin 20 minutes before the plane's arrival, he said.
"We sincerely apologize to our passengers for this incident and thank them for their cooperation in the evacuation," the airline statement said.
No oxygen masks were deployed to passengers. Snook said the crew didn't want to pump oxygen into the aircraft when there might be a fire. The crew donned smoke masks, he said.
The crew deployed the plane's emergency slides for the evacuation, which officials said took between 30 and 45 seconds.
Because halon was used in the cargo hold, it will take some time to get luggage back to the passengers, Snook said. Each passenger will have their flights comped and will get a voucher for a future flight.

Emily Zamourka, who captured the hearts of Los Angeles subway riders and internet fans, has been offered a recording contract

Grammy-nominated music producer Joel Diamond tells 2CNY NEWS he drafted an offer letter for Zamourka in the hopes of making a “huge classical-EDM crossover hit record for the subway soprano.”

Diamond says the first record will be called “Paradise” and released on Silver Blue Records, the record label he founded in 1973.

The producer first learned of the now-infamous singer after the Los Angeles Police Department tweeted a video of her singing opera in a subway station.

The internet immediately fell in love with the 52-year-old, who became homeless after a run of bad luck. Zamourka moved to the United States more than two decades ago and was teaching violin and piano lessons, but fell ill and wound up homeless when she couldn’t afford medical care.

Along with the record deal, two GoFundMe campaigns have raised thousands of dollars for Zamourka, one surpassing $52,000 and the other tipping $32,000.

Most of the people injured in the frenzy refused medical attention and fewer than six people went to a hospital for minor injuries

People walking in Times Square were sent into a widespread panic Tuesday night after what sounded like multiple gunshots rang out in the crowded tourist destination — only later to be ruled as motorcycle backfire, police said.

Witnesses said they saw people screaming and climbing over each other, scattering north on Broadway after loud sounds were heard at the Crossroads of the World sometime around 9:30 p.m.

Up to 20 people were hurt in the frenzy, authorities said. Most of the people injured refused medical attention and fewer than six people went to a hospital for minor injuries, police said.

Multiple backfires on the road happened near Eighth Avenue and West 42nd Street, according to the NYPD. Several ambulances and police patrol vehicles were still on the scene an hour after the panic calmed down.

Crowds of people unaware of what was going on took off away from the sound. Some people thought it was gunfire and some thought there was an explosion.

Cellphone videos from above showed groups running for their lives. Many of them rushed into stores to shield themselves for a potential bullets. Witnesses expressed being scared due to the recent mass shootings that took place in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, that claimed at least 31 lives.

The NYPD’s Midtown North precinct quickly sent out a tweet to claim the anxiety that there is “no #ActiveShooter in #TimesSquare. Motorcycles backfiring while passing through sounded like gunshots … Please don’t panic. The Times Square area is very safe!”

A woman described being stuck inside a theater during the stampede, separated from her daughter.

"Everyone thought there was a shooter coming down the streets. I thought I was going to watch my daughter get shot down in front of me," Bridget Siljander said.

Another witness said he hid in the Polo store with his girlfriend; he said staff locked them inside and they looked out and saw people screaming as they ran down the street.

Mayor Bill de Blasio reacted on Twitter following the incident, saying "the panic and fear people felt tonight was all too real. Nobody should have to live in constant fear of gun violence. NOBODY."

Police have released bodycam video of a dramatic police shooting that left a man dead in Athens.

The incident unfolded Monday around 12:30 p.m. on the 1000 block of Macon Highway.

Athens-Clarke County police said they received multiple calls about a man dripping blood and acting erratically.

"I want people to be able to see exactly what the officers were confronting and make their own decisions about how they feel about what occurred," Athens police Chief Cleveland Spruill said.

Police told Channel 2’s Sophia Choi three officers responded to the scene. Two of the officers fired shots at the man when he wouldn't put the knife down and ran toward them, according to police.

The man, identified as 23-year-old Aaron Hong, was killed and one officer was injured.

In the bodycam video released during a news conference Tuesday, officers can be seen pleading with Hong to drop his knife. The officers repeatedly screamed at him, "We can help you!"

Hong responded to "just do it." Hong could be seen on the video rolling to the ground and getting back up after he was shot.

That's when he charged at one of the officers as he was trying to holster his weapon. The video shows Hong going for the gun and officers fired again, killing him.

Police said they tried to use a taser, but Hong charged at them before they could aim.

"The body-worn camera video evidence that I have seen and that I have shared with you today suggests the officers reasonably feared for their lives and their safety and used deadly force to defend themselves," Spruill said.

The chief told Channel 2 Action News this is the third officer-involved shooting in the county this year.

The officers have been identified as Senior Police Officer David Harrison and Officer Charles Bidinger, who were placed on administrative leave.

Bidinger was also involved in another shooting in March, but he was cleared. The chief believes his officers will be cleared in this case, too.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is also investigating this shooting.

An Aurora mother is upset at her daughter's bus driver, claiming her daughter got seriously hurt on the bus home from school and even fell unconscious, but the bus driver never called for help.

Serenity Vann's mother, Stephanie, remembers vividly what she saw last week.

"She was laying on my couch, convulsing; she was not breathing right. Her eyes were open. She looked dead. Completely dead," Vann said.

Serenity says she was laying on one of the bus seats. Her classmate went to help her up but lost her hand a she fell backwards, hitting her head on the window. That's the last thing she says she remembers until she was inside her home.

"I was laying down on the floor and a bunch of people were surrounding me," Serenity said.

Stephanie Vann says the bus driver wouldn't call 9-1-1 nor did she help 8-year-old Serenity in her home. Zuart Martinez, 10, and two others did.

"We got her in the house and she was staring and like, she was not doing nothing and her eyes were open," Martinez told Contact7.

Stephanie Vann was at work when she got a call from her other daughter who was also on the bus home from Arkansas Elementary. Stephanie immediately came home.

"She just left, she just left my kid; she didn't wait to see if I was here or anything," said Vann.

In a statement, Aurora Public Schools said, "We have been and will continue to work with the parent of our student to address her concerns. The safety of our students is our top priority. In this case, the bus driver did call dispatch for help. We are reviewing whether and how protocols were followed. We are also looking into what additional professional development and follow up may be needed. We are grateful that our student is recovering and we will remain focused on providing our student and family with support."

We asked Aurora Public Schools what the bus driver's status is, but they did reply to our requests for comment.

Vann says the school has apologized to her, but it doesn't change what happened to her daughter and it haunts her.

Serenity is back to taking the bus but she says that bus driver is not on that route.

The Aurora Police Department says they are not investigating the incident because nothing criminal took place.

A judge said on Monday that a sexual assault case against the actor Kevin Spacey could be dismissed after the young man who accused Mr. Spacey of fondling him invoked the Fifth Amendment during a hearing over his missing phone.

The man was asked to testify on Monday regarding text messages he sent and received on the night in July 2016 that he encountered Mr. Spacey at a Nantucket restaurant. Mr. Spacey’s lawyer contends that the young man had deleted text messages that could back up Mr. Spacey’s assertion that whatever happened that night was consensual flirtation.

After the lawyer, Alan Jackson, told the man that he could be charged with a felony for deleting evidence, the man invoked his constitutional right to protect himself from self-incrimination.

The doorbell-camera company Ring has forged video-sharing partnerships with more than 400 police forces across the United States, granting them potential access to homeowners’ camera footage and a powerful role in what the company calls the nation’s “new neighborhood watch.”

The partnerships let police request the video recorded by homeowners’ cameras within a specific time and area, helping officers see footage from the company’s millions of Internet-connected cameras installed nationwide, the company said. Officers don’t receive ongoing or live-video access, and homeowners can decline the requests, which Ring sends via email thanking them for “making your neighborhood a safer place.”

The number of police deals, which has not previously been reported, is likely to fuel broader questions about privacy, surveillance and the expanding reach of tech giants and local police. The rapid growth of the program, which began in spring 2018, surprised some civil liberties advocates, who thought that fewer than 300 agencies had signed on.

Authorities found a 2-year-old girl alive Tuesday, more than 24 hours after family members told investigators that she vanished as they were preparing to leave a campsite in Michigan.

Officials with the Oscada County Sheriff's Office said deputies were searching Monday for Gabriella Vitale after family members lost track of the girl.

Walmart said Tuesday it will discontinue all sales of handgun ammunition and sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition that can be used with military-style weapons, following two “horrific” shootings at Walmart stores this summer.

It will also stop all handgun sales in Alaska, marking its complete exit from the handguns category.

The biggest retailer in the world also is asking customers at Walmart and Sam’s Club to no longer openly carry firearms in stores, in states where “open carry” is allowed, unless they are authorized law enforcement officers. Open carry legislation is currently on the books in more than 26 states, Dan Bartlett, executive vice president of corporate affairs, said during a call with members of the media.

Walmart said it won’t be changing its policy for customers who have permits for concealed carry. And it will be adding signage to stores in the coming weeks to communicate the updates.

“We believe the opportunity for someone to misinterpret a situation, even in open carry states, could lead to tragic results,” CEO Doug McMillon said in a memo distributed to employees. “We hope that everyone will understand the circumstances that led to this new policy and will respect the concerns of their fellow shoppers and our associates.”

A motorist on the Massachusetts Turnpike captured a man asleep behind the wheel of his self-driving Tesla, keeping up with traffic, in the lane next to him.

Dakota Randall filmed the unidentified man around 3 p.m. on Sunday while he was driving near Newton, Massachusetts, according to 2CNY NEWS.

"I kind of looked over and saw what I thought was somebody asleep at the wheel," Randall said. "I was like that can’t be right, so I did a double-take, looked over and sure enough this guy was just, head between his legs completely asleep."

Randall attempted to wake the driver by honking his horn, but he said that proved to be no help.

It is unclear how long the driver, who was not identified, was asleep, Randall said he only drove alongside the vehicle for up to a minute before speeding away from the Tesla.

The Tesla website says its autopilot feature is to be used "with a fully attentive driver, who has their hands on the wheel and is prepared to take over at any time. While Autopilot is designed to become more capable over time, in its current form, it is not a self-driving system."

"Many of these videos appear to be dangerous pranks or hoaxes," a Tesla spokesperson said in a statement. "Our driver-monitoring system repeatedly reminds drivers to remain engaged and prohibits the use of Autopilot when warnings are ignored."

"Tesla owners have driven billions of miles using Autopilot, and data from our quarterly Vehicle Safety Report indicates that drivers using Autopilot experience fewer accidents than those operating without assistance," the spokesperson added.

Police in Salt Lake City revealed Monday there was no evidence a missing University of Utah student who disappeared after ordering a Lyft and was dropped off at a Utah park one week ago has suffered “any harm.”

“To date her family and her friends have not heard from her,” Salt Lake City Police Assistant Chief Tim Doubt told reporters on Monday.

“She missed a midterm exam and a flight and at this time there is no evidence that any harm has come to her, however, because of the circumstances of the case we want to make sure that she is alright.”

Doubt said the Lyft driver who dropped off Lueck told investigators she did not seem in distress when she met the person at the park at around 3 a.m. The Lyft driver has been cleared as a potential suspect, police said.

Lueck’s parents said they last heard from her around 1 a.m. on June 17. They said their daughter texted them and told them her flight landed, but they haven't heard from her since.

Last Thursday, Lueck's family reported her missing.

“Since being reported missing detectives attempted to locate her through her phone which has been turned off and those efforts remain unsuccessful,” Doubt said on Monday.

He added, “Detectives have listed Mackenzie in the national database as missing and are exploring all avenues of investigative techniques including writing and serving various warrants, talking to friends and family and checking social media.”

Doubt told reporters that investigators have been looking for Mackenzie since her family reported her missing.

“Since we took the report on Thursday detectives have canvassed the area around Hatch Park multiple times to try and locate any video surveillance from businesses or from residences that may have captured anything,” Doubt said. “Detectives are also knocking on doors in the area of the park to rule out that anyone there may have had contact with Mackenzie or seen anything.”

The University of Utah released a statement on Monday saying it was cooperating with the investigation.

“The University of Utah is deeply concerned about the well-being of Mackenzie “Kenzie” Lueck and her family,” the statement said. “The university’s dean of students has spoken with Mackenzie’s family to offer support and to express the campus community’s shared hope for her safe return.”

Lueck has been described as 5 feet 6 inches and weighs around 120 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes.

“Occasionally the police work a missing-person case where the person does not want to have contact with family or friends. If that is the case, Mackenzie, we are asking you to please reach out to either the Salt Lake City Police Department or a law enforcement agency where you are at,” Doubt said. “We just want to make sure you are safe and we will respect your wishes.

A reinvigorated Hurricane Dorian roared toward the Carolinas on Thursday, bringing tropical storm conditions along the South Carolina coast and flooding in Charleston, along with the threat of tornadoes across the region, including northward into North Carolina.

The National Hurricane Center said as of 10 a.m. that Dorian is a Category 3 storm with maximum sustained winds at 115 mph. Dorian was located about 65 miles southeast of Charleston, S.C., and 165 miles south-southwest of Wilmington, N.C., moving north-northeast at 8 mph.

Fourteen women are suing Lyft over allegedly mishandling their sexual assault, sexual misconduct and rape complaints against drivers that occurred while using its service, bringing renewed attention to the issue of safety in the ride-hail industry.

The women, each listed anonymously in a suit filed Wednesday, allege that Lyft "chooses to stonewall" law enforcement investigating assaults and that it fails to inform victims about the status of the drivers they've accused of sexual assault or rape. They allege that Lyft is negligent in its background checks and fails to protect passengers with added technology. They claim Lyft has chosen to "hide and conceal" the scope of its "sexual predator crisis" on the platform.
The alleged incidents, detailed in the 40-page lawsuit filed in San Francisco Superior Court, occurred between January 2018 and June 2019 and span the country from California to North Carolina. Some of the alleged assaults occurred when women used the service at night after they had been drinking, a pattern that 2CNY NEWS has previously reported on. The suit alleges that the company has been aware of drivers sexually assaulting and raping female customers since as early as 2015.
One driver accessed his victim's phone after raping her and added a $25 tip on the ride that ended in her assault, according to the lawsuit. In another allegation, a blind woman took a Lyft to the grocery store in the middle of the day; the driver then offered her a free ride home that was not ordered through the Lyft app, and forced himself into her home to rape her, the suit alleges.
